
Your Bathroom Heater is Doing More Than You Think
Most people see those infrared lamps in the bathroom and think, “Great, I won’t freeze while I’m drying off.” But we actually built these things to do a lot more than just keep you warm. The real enemy in a bathroom is that lingering dampness—the kind that hides in your grout and eventually turns into mold. Our heaters are designed to hunt that moisture down and get rid of it.
How it actually works
Here is the thing: standard heaters just warm up the air. That’s fine, but it doesn’t really help the walls. Our lamps use specific types of radiation—short and medium wave—that don’t just float in the air. They dive straight into the surface of your tiles and grout. This pushes the trapped water out of those tiny pores and turns it into vapor. It’s basically a way of drying your walls from the inside out. By the time mold spores even think about settling in, the surface is already dry.
The “Sweet Spot” of Heat
To make this work, we use quartz glass for the lamps. Why? Because regular glass would just soak up all that energy. Quartz lets the heat shoot straight through to where it’s needed. But you have to get the sizing right. If the lamp is too weak, you’ll feel a nice glow, but your walls stay damp. Too strong, and you’ll feel like you’re standing in an oven. We spend a lot of time calibrating these so they hit that perfect middle ground—spiking the surface temperature just enough to dry things out without making the room unbearable.
A couple of things to watch out for
These aren’t “set it and forget it” fixtures; placement is everything. Infrared travels in a straight line. If you bury the lamp too deep in a recessed ceiling, you’re blocking the path. You’ve got to mount them where they have a clear shot at the dampest spots in the room. And a heads-up: these quartz tubes get seriously hot. Make sure your housing is rated for high temperatures. Otherwise, you might find your fixtures warping over time, and nobody wants that.
