But there’s a catch. They often blast out a blinding white light that’s just too much for the eyes. It’s especially tough on babies, since their eyes let in more of that high-energy light than ours do. Nobody wants a heater that feels like a spotlight in an interrogation room. So, we figured out a way to fix it. Taming the glare Instead of using a plain clear tube, we use special coatings or doped quartz glass. You still get that cozy, skin-warming heat you want, but the light is just a soft, gentle glow. It’s much easier on the eyes. The balancing act Getting the heat right is a bit of a tug-of-war. We usually stick with halogen elements between 250W and 600W. That’s the sweet spot for a standard bathroom—enough to keep you warm without burning the lamp out. We also use spring-loaded connectors (like the R7s style) to make sure everything fits tight. No loose wires, no sparks, no worries. Now, here’s the honest part: filtering the light does mean we lose a tiny bit of energy efficiency. But honestly? It’s a trade-off we’re happy to make. Safety and comfort beat a few percentage points of efficiency every single time. Real-world setup Once these go into your ceiling, the shape of the reflector becomes a big deal. A deep, curved reflector is great for pushing heat down toward you, but it can accidentally concentrate the light into a piercing beam. To stop that, we pair our filtered bulbs with a matte-finish reflector. It spreads the light out. No hotspots, no glare—just warmth.
